Tired but happy

We're here safe and sound.

Hurrah for Qantas - service was really good and we were looked after royally. Pity about the awful dresses the poor stewardesses had to wear - artistically the pattern was dreadful and the material was the kind that sticks to you - ugh!!

We had a brief stop in Bankok and it was quite odd to see the difference between the wealth and consumerism in the airport lounge alongside the workers on the planes etc. Also really odd to be somewhere where you can't understand a word of what is written. We had no money so couldn't but a drink but hey ho back on board and its champagne all the way! Saw an advert on a restaurant for "clean food here" makes you wonder!!

We arrived into Sydney for our transfer as the sun rose on Easter Sunday - hallelujah (in every way). We were treated on take off for NZ to flying over The Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge, Bondii Beach in bright sunshine and blue skies. The flight to Christchurch took us over snow capped mountains - it was fabulous.

Ours first night was spent in jail - in fact in the Old Jailhouse which until the mid 1900's was the jail for Christchurch until the "clients" outgrew the premises. It's now a backpackers hostel - great and quirky - really clean with a bed that felt like sleeping on a cloud. We managed to stay awake until 6.30pm then slept for 13 hours - bliss.

We now have our camper and it's a bit like us - seen better days, goes along alright until it comes to a hill, but it's a trooper and perfect for us. Stopped last night in Oamaru and saw the penguins coming home in the evening - it's just like "Happy Feet"

Speak with you soon with some pictures I hope - the connect here wouldn't let me download.
